Podcast – BörsenWoche: Which is better: ETF or shares?
According to data from Deutsches Aktieninstitut, the number of shareholders in Germany is currently at its highest level since records began at the turn of the millennium: namely almost 13 million. However, the number of those who invest exclusively in shares is declining significantly. 2.4 million people invest exclusively directly in shares, fewer than a good ten years ago. The growth comes primarily from investments in exchange-traded index funds, or ETFs for short. In today’s episode, Georg asks finance professor Hans-Peter Burghof from the University of Hohenheim what the advantages and disadvantages of both types of investment are and how they can be used sensibly.
