Real estate funds: are they still worth it?


Open-ended real estate funds are among the most popular forms of investment among Germans: According to data from the BVI fund association, around 130 billion euros were invested in this asset class at the turn of the year; especially in commercial real estate. However, the bankruptcies of large retailers such as Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof or the shoe retailer Reno are putting a strain on the owners of commercial properties, as is the trend towards working from home. In addition, there are the general problems of the real estate industry: rising interest rates, skyrocketing construction costs and strict regulation. In this episode, Sonja Knorr from the fund analysis company Scope explains how serious the problems are and whether an investment can still be worthwhile.
