DeepSeek CEO promises to be surpassed by OpenAI
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman called the AI model DeepSeek R1 “impressive” when he considered its capabilities in its Where to buy.
Altman said that the startup would continue on its current roadmap and access to significant computational resources is still crucial.
Nvidia shares dropped by double digits after the release of DeepSeek R1. This model was able to offer capabilities similar to those of leading neural networks, but at a much lower price. It raised doubts as the reason for billions in investments made into graphics cards.
DeepSeek was hailed by chip developers as “an outstanding achievement” in the field of artificial intelligence.
The company’s stock fell 17% during trading on the 27th of January. This was the first time in many years that a decline of this magnitude had occurred.
Nvidia has attempted to dispel the notion that graphics card demand is falling.
US President Donald Trump said that DeepSeek’s technology could serve as an alarm for American businesses.
Experts deemed earlier the hype around DeepSeek to be premature.
