Justin Sun, founder of TRON, announced on July 9 that he had purchased 100 million meme coins TRUMP.
The DAO that developed TRON, announced on July 7 the migration of TRUMP onto the network. The token was worth $8.89 at the time of the announcement. It rose 2.7%.
Justin Sun, a top TRUMP token holder in May 2025 attended the gala dinner that was hosted by U.S. president Donald Trump. CNBC reported that the TRON co-founder claimed to own nearly $19,000,000 worth of meme tokens on the night of the event.
The Bond between TRON and Trump
Over time, mutual support has gradually developed between both projects. Sun, a few weeks after Trump was elected, announced in November 2024 that it would invest $30 million into World Liberty Financial.
Sun increased his investment to $75,000,000 after he was appointed as an adviser to WLF. Arkham Report states that World Liberty Financial increased TRON’s portfolio by $4.7 million in January 2025.
The SEC charged Sun in 2023 and his three companies including TRON foundation Limited for an unregistered offer of securities, which included TRON (TRX), BitTorrent (BTT), and TRON tokens.
Sun, along with the SEC, filed an application in February to the court for a stay of litigation and to dismiss the case. Regulators have stopped pursuing a variety of cryptocurrency firms since Trump became president, including Coinbase. Robinhood. Ripple. Kraken. ConsenSys. Cumberland. Nova Labs. and Uniswap.
Sun claimed in April that, as a response to the SEC’s suit, the SEC lacked the authority to regulate sales of digital assets from overseas to investors outside the U.S.
It attributed the Commission’s right to prosecute TRON founder, to his frequent visits to the U.S.
