AI messaging interface aims to bridge gap in web3 accessibility

Ian W. from OSO AI delivered a speech at the ETHBarcelona conference, discussing integrating AI into the web3 space to create a new front-end that simplifies user experience and fosters mainstream adoption.

Ian W., representing OSO AI, took the stage at the ETHBarcelona conference to share his vision for enhancing the user experience in the web3 space through the power of artificial intelligence (AI).

In his talk titled “Creating a new front-end for web3 using AI + Messaging,” he emphasized the potential of AI to streamline interaction, simplify complexity, and drive broader adoption.

Web3, with its decentralized nature and the rise of cryptocurrencies like bitcoin and ethereum, has posed challenges for average users due to the complexity of web2 interfaces. Ian W. proposed leveraging AI to address these issues, aiming to make web3 more approachable for non-expert users.

The speaker highlighted the evolutionary progression of the internet, from command line interfaces to graphical interfaces and mobile apps. Ian W. argued that AI-powered messaging interfaces could be the key to unlocking Web3’s potential for mainstream adoption. By allowing users to interact with the technology using natural language, tasks could be simplified and more intuitive.

One key aspect discussed was consolidating information from various sources through AI, enabling users to stay informed and up-to-date with decentralized protocols. By aggregating relevant data into a single user-friendly platform, the speaker envisioned a more seamless web3 experience.

Security was also a focal point, with Ian W. proposing a method for generating untimed transactions that can be signed through mobile wallets like Metamask or Rainbow. This approach would provide users with the convenience of mobile payments while revolutionizing crypto transactions.

Education played a crucial role in the speaker’s vision, emphasizing the need for a tool that guides individuals in learning about cryptocurrencies. By creating an open framework where contributions from the community are encouraged, they aim to prevent monopolization by entities like OpenAI.

During the Q&A session, the speaker addressed concerns about exclusivity and reliance on third-party chat apps and wallets. They acknowledged the long-term goal of a dedicated app but stressed the current practicality and safety of utilizing messaging apps. Looking ahead, they expressed optimism about the potential for AI models to run locally on mobile phones, further streamlining the user experience.

Ian W. also shared insights into the technical aspects, mentioning using a framework to route different language models and the possibility of employing subgraphs to pull data for model building. Improved wallets, focusing on social recovery to securely generate and share encrypted seeds, were identified as a crucial element in making web3 more user-friendly.

The project’s timeline involves an invite-only alpha release, a hackathon, and integration with DAO communities. Voting and governance functionalities will be added, leading up to a public beta launch expected within two to three months. Additionally, the speaker expressed interest in offering the service to wallet builders, expanding its reach and impact.

To address the limitations of web3’s front-end experience, Ian W. and OSO AI aim to unlock the full potential of the decentralized internet, enabling broader adoption and accessibility through the power of AI and messaging interfaces.
