Crypto Tax in Portugal REJECTED
The Portuguese government has recently rejected a proposal to introduce cryptocurrency taxation in the country. The proposal was submitted by the Ministry of Finance, but was met with opposition from the Central Bank of Portugal. The Central Bank argued that such a tax would be difficult to implement and that it could have a negative impact on the country’s economy.
The proposal was to introduce a tax of 0.3 percent on all crypto-currency transactions. This would have been applied to both individuals and corporations, and would have been collected by the government.
The proposal was rejected due to the difficulty in implementing such a tax. The government argued that it would be difficult to track and monitor all crypto-currency transactions, as well as to ensure that the correct amount of tax was paid. The Central Bank also argued that such a tax would have a detrimental effect on the country’s economy, as it could discourage people from investing in the crypto-currency market.
Although the proposal has been rejected, the Portuguese government is still open to discussing the idea of introducing a cryptocurrency tax in the future. The government is also looking into other ways to regulate the crypto-currency market, such as introducing anti-money laundering measures.
