Hello everyone, it’s the 11 year anniversary of Satoshi Nakamoto’s Bitcoin whitepaper release. We know little about the mysterious creator of Bitcoin and many have tried to uncover his true identity.
Today, we’re going to take a look at some of the key events that have taken place in the 11 years since the whitepaper was released.
First, we’ll look at the release of Bitcoin in 2009. Satoshi Nakamoto released the whitepaper on October 31, 2009, laying out the plans for a decentralized, digital currency.
In 2010, the first Bitcoin transaction was completed between Satoshi and Hal Finney. This marked the first time Bitcoin was used as a form of payment and led to the development of the Bitcoin network.
In 2011, the first Bitcoin exchange was launched. This allowed people to buy and sell Bitcoin for other currencies, such as US dollars and euros. This also marked the first time Bitcoin was traded on a large scale.
In 2012, the first Bitcoin ATM was installed in Vancouver, Canada. This allowed people to buy and sell Bitcoin using cash.
In 2013, the first Bitcoin conference was held in San Jose, California. This conference helped to spread awareness about Bitcoin and the potential uses of the technology.
In 2014, the first Bitcoin halving event took place. This halving event cut the reward for mining Bitcoin in half, from 50 BTC to 25 BTC.
In 2015, the first Bitcoin ATM network was launched. This allowed people to buy and sell Bitcoin in a more convenient manner.
In 2016, the first Bitcoin ETF was approved by the US Securities and Exchange Commission. This allowed investors to invest in Bitcoin without actually owning the cryptocurrency.
In 2017, Bitcoin reached its all-time high of $20,000. This event sparked a huge surge of interest in Bitcoin, and the cryptocurrency was widely discussed in the mainstream media.
Finally, in 2018, the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto was revealed. Craig Wright claimed to be the creator of Bitcoin, but his claim has yet to be verified.
