President Donald Trump on Wednesday said he had effectively ended the Biden administration’s hostility toward Bitcoin and other digital assets, stating his executive orders are aimed at maintaining US leadership in AI and crypto.
“I’ve signed executive orders to keep the United States at the forefront of artificial intelligence and to end Joe Biden’s war on Bitcoin and crypto. We ended that war totally. That war’s over,” said Trump, speaking at the FII PRIORITY Summit in Miami Beach.
Trump criticized the SEC’s approach to crypto regulation. He alleged that many indictments related to cryptocurrency were politically motivated and suggested his influence led to their dismissal before the elections.
“So many people are being indicted for no reason whatsoever. Very political group of people that all they did was…they liked indicting people,” Trump said.
“Many of those indictments were dropped just before the election,” Trump pointed out, adding that these attempts came too late to be effective.
“We had that vote entirely. I think everybody was smart that believed in that and there are a lot of people believing it. Everybody who is smart voted for Trump and they pulled these indictments,” he added.
Trump asserted that his actions and decisions are driven by a sense of what he believes is right rather than by political motives.
“I don’t do anything for political reasons, I do what’s right. I wanna be at the forefront of any industry,” he said.
The President also claimed that his support for the crypto industry drove positive sentiment and investment in Bitcoin, leading to its rising price.
“Bitcoin…set multiple all-time record highs because everyone knows that I’m committed to making America a crypto capital,” Trump added. “We wanna stay at the forefront of everything.”
